FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski isn’t getting any younger despite a phenomenal season so far in 2024 at the age of 36. This is why the Blaugrana need to find a younger center-forward for the future and it now looks like they’re putting a plan in place.
Recently Barca have been linked with Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres and Diario Sport are reporting that they have an interesting proposal in order to purchase the young goal scorer. The report states:
“The intention of Bara, in this context, is clear as we have told in ‘La Possession’: to sign Gyskeres for a figure close to 70 million euros and leave him ceded to Sporting for another season. Although the player’s clause is 100 million, the club believes the Swede could leave for a lower figure and this formula would allow Lewandowski to maintain his role as leader of the blaugrana attack for another year while the Sporting striker continues to triumph in Portugal and Europe.”
Sporting are currently undergoing to some major changes with their manager Ruben Amorim leaving for Manchester United after only a few months into the current season. Whether he ends up at Barcelona or not, Gyskeres will be the best big name to leave the club.
Gyökeres has been on fire this season with 24 goals and four assists in 19 matches. It won’t be easy to Barcelona to sign him with the fact that they’re still unable to spend of their revenue on improving their squad. Every year they struggle to register players and 2025 may not be any different.
Comment below and tell us if you think Barca will be able to sign Gyskeres.
