FC Barcelona star winger Lamine Yamal has been out for the past three weeks due to an ankle injury. Unfortunately they haven’t won a match since he’s been out.
Barca manager Hansi Flick has indicated that Yamal will not be available for this week’s Champions League match against Brest. The good news though is that he’s expected to be ready for their weekend La Liga match against Las Palmas.
“I think this could be the last game he misses. On Saturday he could be an option from the bench,” said Flick while he spoke with the media.
Barcelona center-back Inigo Martinez admits that it’s hard to replace Yamal.
“We know how important he is, I won’t deny that,” Martinez said, via 90min. “He is very unbalancing and makes the opponent’s defensive line retreat. He generates a lot of fear. He is vital, but that doesn’t mean that whoever replaces him isn’t up to the task.
“Everyone who comes on tries to give 100 or 200%. Lamine is Lamine, we don’t have him now and that doesn’t mean that just because he’s not here we won’t win. We have to focus on those we have. There is enough of a squad to win every game. We know his potential.”
In the 12 matches that he’s played in this season, Yamal has 5 goals and 7 assists for Barca. They could really use his production right now. It just shows just how much of an impact the 17 year-old has on the club’s success.
